Schematic for World Peace, Idea 1

I was driving yesterday, doing my best to make it across town and back home in one piece with baby girl, and had the following thought...  What would happen to traffic if people stopped thinking the world revolved around their own sphincter and began driving like their best friend's newborn child was in the back seat?  There's still going to be a ton of crazy out there, but I think it'd be one heck of a step forward in teaching people how to be polite when driving.  What do you think?

...to the moon? And back? Really?

While poking around on the internet, I came across an image where a lady had the following written across her pants.

"I love you to the moon and back."

This phrase is just... Incredibly stupid.  The first part, telling someone you love them, is sweet.  But to the moon and back?  Really?  As a friend I hate to be the one to drop this on you, but you're not going to the moon.  Between the massive amount of training required to be able to successfully manage such a feat and the amount of money you'd need to bribe Richard Branson (as NASA's and humanity's last trip was back in the 70's), it's just not going to happen.  With this in mind, "I love you to the moon and back" can easily be read as "I love you as much as something I'll never do", which seems a bit unkind.  Or perhaps "I love you like I dream about doing something one day", which has other interesting implications that may not be appropriate for the setting, or for public view.

I would like to offer an alternative for those who feel they need a bit more in their expressions of endearment.  The next time you're inclined to use that moon quote, give this far more thought provoking statement a try.

"I love you to the grave and back."

Talking about the grave may sound a bit morbid, but it's a concept that everyone can understand and connect with in a very personal way.  Loving someone until one of you dies, unless you're a serial killer, is a very serious and meaningful statement.  And if that love transcends death with a strength that allows them to return to express it, then you know it's solid.  You should also hire a Priest.
